The Caribbean Cultural Dolls are the original designs of Judy Boldon -Bain.  The dolls are woven from a vine-like palm found in tropical rain forests.  The rattan is dyed into jewel-like colors. The art of making these dolls is a time consuming job which entails separating the hanks of reeds so the dye can penetrate the material, coiling the reeds so they will fit into the pots of dye, "cooking" the material to the full rich colors, then hanging the reeds to dry. Each doll is designed according to cultural or historical information.  When you own one you have a piece of the culture or history of a Caribbean Island. All dolls come with a card that tells their fascinating story. Each doll is one of a kind - no two are alike. The Caribbean colors are well represented in each doll. This doll is named after a French Patois phrase that can be used to describe the 19th Century Lady dressed in her finest, head tie in place and headed to dance the Quadrille.

This stilt walker is a traditional carnival figure with bright colored costume skirt or pants and an elaborate hat. He played on stilts as high as 10 to 12 feet dancing through the streets, collecting money from onlookers on the balconies. He often has his own drummers.

Tobago Jig is a special dance of the Island of Tobago, which has many national dances but this is the most popular. 

It is part of traditional weddings of days gone by.  It is re-enacted at the Tobago Heritage Festival.
